Belgian GP: Top Facts and Stats Unveiled

Oscar Piastri has etched his name deeper into Formula 1 history with his latest triumph at the Qatar Grand Prix sprint, marking his fifth win of the 2025 season. That haul – including three sprint victories and two main races – tops the record for most wins by an Australian driver in a single campaign, beating Mark Webber’s three from 2010.

The McLaren star started from pole and held off challenges throughout the 19-lap dash, crossing the line ahead of teammate Lando Norris, who recovered from a grid penalty to claim second. It’s Piastri’s third sprint win from pole this year, underlining his growing dominance in these short-format showdowns.

McLaren celebrated their 11th victory of 2025, the first time any team has hit that mark since Mercedes in 2019. With Norris still leading the drivers’ standings, the papaya squad now sits 45 points clear in the constructors’ battle, putting them on course for their first title since 1998.

Elsewhere, Franco Colapinto impressed in his rookie season with Williams by reaching Q3 for the first time, qualifying ninth. Meanwhile, Kimi Antonelli’s F2 title hopes took a hit after a qualifying crash, leaving him with work to do in the feeder series finale.

In the main qualifying session, Norris snatched pole from Piastri by just 0.055 seconds, setting up an all-McLaren front row for Sunday’s race. Max Verstappen, chasing his fourth straight drivers’ crown for Red Bull, lines up third, with Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton in fourth after a strong showing in his debut season with the Scuderia.
