RIP: F1’s farewell to respected journalist & spokesman

The Formula 1 world is in mourning following the passing of Alberto Antonini, a figure renowned for his significant contributions to the sport. Antonini, who was a familiar presence in the F1 paddock for many years, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy marked by professionalism and respect.

Best known for his work as a journalist with the Italian magazine Autosprint and Sky Italia, Antonini also played a pivotal role as Ferrari’s F1 spokesman during Maurizio Arrivabene’s tenure as team boss. La Repubblica newspaper reported that Antonini was 62 years old and is survived by his wife, Barbara.

The news of his death was reported by Autosprint, stating that Antonini passed away in a hospital in Bologna. Corriere della Sera newspaper indicated that his death followed an illness.

Maurizio Arrivabene, reflecting on Antonini’s character and impact, shared heartfelt words. “An educated and decent man, a trained professional with great humility and humanity, which are uncommon qualities today where everyone feels like a phenomenon, but above all a dear friend. I loved him,” Arrivabene said, highlighting the profound respect and affection he held for Antonini.
