Breaking: Madrid set to host new Formula 1 race

A brand-new Grand Prix in Madrid is on the verge of being announced, bringing high-speed F1 action to the heart of Spain’s vibrant capital. The buzz has been building around this semi-urban race set around the Ifema event facilities, and now it seems the big reveal is just days away.

Europa Press has reported that key figures are lining up to break this exciting news. Isabel Diaz Ayuso, president of the community of Madrid, and mayor Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida are poised to make the official announcement. “I believe that there is no administration or country that could reject such a project,” Ayuso said, underscoring the magnitude of bringing a Grand Prix to Madrid.

In a New Year speech, Ayuso hinted at something big on the horizon: “On January 23 there will be a big announcement”. She emphasized the potential benefits for both Madrid and Spain, expressing hope for a joint announcement by the two administrations.

Madrid’s Mayor Almeida also chimed in with his anticipation, mentioning a significant sports-related event penciled in for the 23rd. “I have space on the agenda reserved on the 23rd for very good news for Madrid related to sports,” he commented.

Marca, the Spanish sports newspaper, has let slip that none other than F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali is expected to attend the announcement event next Tuesday.

What’s particularly thrilling for racing enthusiasts is the talk of a ten-year contract for the Madrid Grand Prix. This development could potentially mean Madrid will take over the mantle from Barcelona as the home of Spain’s Grand Prix in the future.
