Ferrari’s F1 simulator success: 2024 car shows promising signs

Ferrari’s 2024 Formula 1 car is generating positive vibes, according to the team’s long-time test driver and brand ambassador, Marc Gene. Following a season dominated by Red Bull, there’s a sense of hopeful anticipation at Ferrari, with Gene expressing optimism about the new car’s potential.

Gene, who also contributes to Ferrari’s simulator testing, shared his thoughts with El Mundo Deportivo. “Will we see Ferrari fighting for the world championship? It’s difficult, because Red Bull had a very significant margin last year and they say that this year’s car is better. They are the favourites, obviously,” he admitted. Despite acknowledging Red Bull’s edge, Gene remains optimistic about Ferrari’s chances to close the gap.

The 49-year-old Spaniard’s comments echo similar sentiments from Mercedes’ camp, where Toto Wolff revealed that simulation driver Anthony Davidson feels their new car “feels like a car for the first time in two years.”

Gene elaborated on his experience with Ferrari’s 2024 car in the simulator, noting a marked improvement from the previous year. “All we can say is what the simulator tells us, and what the feelings of the drivers are in the simulator. And it gives better feelings,” he explained. However, he emphasized the ultimate test would come once the car hits the track: “The track, of course, is the one that rules – the final judge.”
