Ocon Thrilled by Haas’ Spa Sprint Double Points

Haas drivers Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman delivered a solid performance at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, securing a double points finish that boosted team morale in Baku.

Ocon crossed the line in ninth, with rookie Bearman right behind in tenth, marking Haas’s first such result since the Austrian round earlier this season. The pair started from 15th and 20th on the grid, navigating a chaotic race marked by crashes and safety car periods to climb into the points.

“It’s a huge relief,” Ocon said post-race. “We knew the car had pace, but starting that far back made it tough. The strategy calls were spot on, and we managed the tyres well through all the interruptions. Scoring points from P15 feels like a win.”

Bearman, in his second full weekend with Haas after replacing Kevin Magnussen, echoed the sentiment. “I’m buzzing with that,” the young Brit admitted. “Qualifying was a mess with the red flag, but the race came alive. We pushed hard on the hard tyres early, and it paid off. Double points for the team is massive – it shows we’re building something here.”

Team principal Ayao Komatsu praised the effort, noting the VF-25’s improved handling on the street circuit. “Both drivers stayed out of trouble and executed perfectly,” he said. “This result lifts us in the standings and gives momentum heading to Singapore.”

With Ocon bringing experience from his Alpine days and Bearman stepping up from Ferrari’s junior programme, Haas sits eighth in the constructors’ championship, eyeing more consistent finishes in the remaining races.
