Hamilton Breaks Silence on Ferrari Bombshell

Lewis Hamilton has voiced strong support for Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur following the announcement of Vasseur’s multi-year contract extension.

The seven-time world champion, who joined Ferrari from Mercedes at the start of the 2025 season, described the decision as the right move. “I only heard about it yesterday,” Hamilton said ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix. “You’ve heard my positive comments about Fred before. There’s nothing else to add. I told everyone it was the right choice. Fred signed me, after all.”

Hamilton’s endorsement comes amid a tough year for Ferrari, who sit third in the constructors’ standings behind Red Bull and McLaren. The team has yet to claim a full grand prix victory in 2025, with Hamilton’s sprint race win in China marking their only success so far. Despite the challenges, Hamilton expressed “absolute confidence” in Vasseur, crediting him as a key factor in his switch to the Scuderia.

Vasseur, who took over as team principal in 2023, has faced scrutiny over Ferrari’s performance dip, but the new deal signals stability as the squad eyes the 2026 regulation changes. Hamilton, paired with Charles Leclerc, emphasized his long-term commitment: “I’m here to win with Fred, and he has my full support.”

This renewal could boost morale at Maranello, where Hamilton has managed just one podium in the opening 12 races, sitting sixth in the drivers’ championship.
