Ferrari has locked in team principal Fred Vasseur with a fresh multi-year contract, signaling strong faith in his leadership despite the squad’s ongoing drought without a race win this season.
The announcement came on Thursday, with the Scuderia confirming Vasseur’s extension beyond his current term, which was set to run through 2026. At 57, the Frenchman took the helm in early 2023 and has steered Ferrari through a mix of highs and lows, including a push for consistency amid fierce competition from Red Bull and McLaren.
Vasseur’s deal underscores Ferrari’s commitment to stability as they gear up for the 2026 regulations overhaul. “We’re building something solid here,” Vasseur said in a team statement, highlighting progress in car development and the arrival of Lewis Hamilton alongside Charles Leclerc for 2025.
This move quells speculation about Vasseur’s position, especially after a string of podiums but no victories in the first half of the year. Ferrari sits second in the constructors’ standings, buoyed by Leclerc’s reliability and Hamilton’s integration efforts.
Looking ahead, Vasseur hasn’t closed the door on a potential reunion with former driver Carlos Sainz, now at Williams. “Doors stay open in this sport,” he noted recently, praising Sainz’s contributions during his Ferrari stint from 2021 to 2024.
For now, the focus remains on ending the winless streak, with the next race at Spa offering a chance to build momentum.
