The much-anticipated Formula 1 feature film starring Brad Pitt has encountered a speed bump in its production journey due to the Hollywood writer’s strike. The project, which had commenced earlier in 2023, found itself in a slowdown, eventually grinding to a halt as the strike unfolded. However, with the strike now concluded, a resurgence in production activity is expected, as reported by Reuters. They suggest a bustling rush is underway “to get film and TV sets humming again”, signaling a comeback for the industry’s delayed projects, including this high-profile F1 film.
The film’s progress and the challenges it faced were highlighted to the F1 fraternity during the US Grand Prix in Austin. Jerry Bruckheimer, the film’s producer, and Joseph Kosinski, its director, were present at the event and according to the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, they were there “to update the teams and their drivers” about the current status of the film.
However, the delay caused by the strike has had significant implications for the film’s production schedule. Ekstra Bladet noted that due to the postponement, filming of the Las Vegas scenes has been pushed to the 2024 season. But despite these setbacks, there is a silver lining. Alexander Wohlk, the Danish newspaper’s correspondent, has reported that the film is expected to make its grand entrance into cinemas by 2025.
