The Mexican GP will proceed as planned despite a fatal shooting incident just outside the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. The Formula 1 event, currently hosting teams and fans from around the world, remains unaffected by the incident.
The confrontation, which involved a stolen car and a police chase, escalated when the perpetrators opened fire on the police officers, resulting in the death of one officer and one of the perpetrators. Additionally, two other police officers sustained injuries when they were struck by the stolen vehicle. Another perpetrator was wounded in the shootout and has since been taken to a hospital under police escort.

In the wake of the incident, Formula One Management conducted a thorough assessment with the help of local authorities and their own security team. Following the analysis, a spokesperson for the sport informed De Telegraaf newspaper that the incident “has no impact on the event” and that it “does not pose an increased risk.”
