Intrigue surrounds the sudden departure of Cora Schumacher, the ex-wife of Michael Schumacher’s brother Ralf, from the German reality TV show ‘I’m a celebrity – Get me out of here!’ (known as ‘Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!’ in Germany). This development has sparked rumors possibly connecting her exit to Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher.
The show is broadcasted on RTL, the former F1 broadcaster which recently partnered with Sky to televise several Grand Prix events in 2024. Cora Schumacher’s abrupt withdrawal from the program led to speculation that the show’s producers and executives were concerned she might inadvertently discuss sensitive details about Michael Schumacher’s health condition on air. The seven-time world champion has been a subject of intense public interest following his severe brain injury in 2013.
Bild newspaper reported on the situation, suggesting RTL’s apprehension about potential revelations. “It’s about a mysterious Schumi clause,” the newspaper mentioned, referring to an alleged gentleman’s agreement between RTL executives and Michael Schumacher’s family to avoid broadcasting any details about his condition.
Before her exit, Cora’s ex-husband, Ralf Schumacher, expressed confidence that she would not discuss inappropriate topics on the show. “I think that she wants to find her own topics and won’t, for example, take up our shared past,” he commented.
RTL’s producers have clarified the reason for her departure, citing health concerns. They stated that Cora Schumacher chose to leave the show due to her “cough,” dismissing any insinuations of underlying motives linked to the Schumacher family.
