Sainz spills: Talks open with F1’s elite for 2025 seat

Carlos Sainz has disclosed he’s in the midst of negotiations with “several teams” for the 2025 season. This revelation comes on the heels of his triumph in Melbourne, sparking speculations that Sauber, under Audi’s stewardship and led by Andreas Seidl, has set a deadline in mid-April for Sainz to decide on a concrete contract proposal.

Yet, the spotlight isn’t solely on Sauber for Sainz, aged 29. His exceptional performance has drawn attention from a roster of top teams, including Mercedes, Red Bull, and Aston Martin.

At Suzuka, Sainz confessed, “I am negotiating with several teams,” highlighting the proactive steps being taken by him and his management to secure his career trajectory for the coming year. “In fact, we are discussions with almost everyone to find out more details and understand which options are realistic and which are best for myself and my future.

He further mentioned, “But I have nothing to say yet – no news. All I can say is that it’s time to speed things up a little. Hopefully we can put this matter to rest sooner rather than later,” indicating the urgency to finalize his plans.

In addition to his career moves, Sainz shared an update on his health following an appendix surgery. Despite a cautious approach to his physical exertion post-operation, he’s back to training, feeling “100 percent fit” and was even seen cycling in Australia shortly after his win in Melbourne, signaling a swift and successful recovery.
